2019 Rural Policy forum

The Local First Arizona Foundation and Arizona Rural Development Council are excited for the opportunity to bring the 2019 conference to Apache County, Aug 7-9. Join us, along with over 300 rural leaders and stakeholders, for capacity-building sessions, receptions, hands-on workshops, and keynote presentations.

Weekendzona ajo

WeekendZona traveled to Ajo, AZ on March 8-10, 2019 for a guided experience uncovering the best kept secrets of the Sonoran Desert. We enjoyed a memorable stay at the Sonoran Desert Inn, along with distinctive heritage foods at the Authentically Ajo Food Festival and a beautiful hike in Organ Pipe National Monument. Stay tuned for an announcement on our next destination!


Arizona food & farm forum

The AZ Food & Farm Forum is a 2-day conference that will take place on April 30-May 1, 2019 for producers, food entrepreneurs, and local food advocates, programmed to change the way our desert state feeds itself. The event features networking sessions, nationally-acclaimed keynote speakers, instructional workshops, & the opportunity to grow your local food community.


In Feb. 2019, the Superior Town Council approved a series of economic and community development agreements between the Town of Superior and Resolution Copper Mining. The agreements address funding and development of local parks, a Multi-Generation Center, and The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center; a business incubator.



Southern gila county mobile farmers market

The Southern Gila County EDC is working on developing an innovative Mobile Farmers Market that would enhance access to healthy, local foods in Dudleyville, Young, and Superior. Stay tuned to the SGCEDC for more information as it becomes available!

United Way of GRAHAM & greenlee COUNTies HIRES NEW ceo

Adam O’Doherty has recently been selected as the new CEO for the United Way of Graham & Greenlee Counties. “I am excited to join such a warm and welcoming community and to work in partnership toward achievement of our common goal of building successful communities.”
