Blight is an issue that rural communities are constantly faced with. From illegal dumping of waste and lack of recycling options to dealing with dilapidated buildings and contaminated sites, there's a lot to do to keep towns clean and healthy. In this webinar, we will hear from three individuals who have contributed in redecorating their community from tatters to treasures.

About our Speakers:

Jill Bernstein: Jill has over 25 years of nonprofit experience in the arts and the environment in Arizona. She joined Keep Arizona Beautiful as Executive Director in 2012 and is dedicated to building a strong network of affiliates in rural areas throughout the state, along with a long range of resources to support community-based efforts to improve local environments. She believes each of us is responsible for helping to keep our world clean and beautiful. 

Jessica Vannoy: Jessica Vannoy has been a Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Sierra Vista for 2 years and was an Animal Control OFficer for 7 years. She holds a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from Northern Arizona University. Jessica has a variety of responsibilities to include inspections, networking with local, state and federal entities, and managing a foreclosure registry. She also runs a volunteer program that helps keep the City clean year round. Jessica has helped lead efforts to expand her division's impact in the community and has implemented many new initiatives. Her priority is compassionate enforcement to obtain optimal results. 

Andy Haratyak: Andy has been employed by the City of Bisbee for over 13 years. Within the Public Works Department, he started the community recycling program. Within three years, Bisbee has been able to run a break-even operation. Their current route has numerous businesses, schools, and municipalities; collecting 12% of the waste stream and contributing $25,000 annual revenue. Saving approximately $50,000 a year in tipping fees. In 2010, Andy became the Sanitation/Recycling Supervisor. Prior to this work, he had eight years management experience working with Tucson Country Club while owning part of the Tucson restaurant, Presidio Grill.
