Cottonwood has an active arts and culture community that keeps locals and visitors alike coming back for more. Not only a destination for the visual arts, Cottonwood also has a thriving music scene and active performing arts programs. To catch all the action, one simply needs to visit the Old Town Center for the Arts. This historic, restored church is located in the center of Old Town Cottonwood and has produced over 350 events including music, theater, comedy, and the performing arts. This charming, and intimate theater is dedicated to bringing the best in arts, entertainment, cultural and community events to the Verde Valley.

Old Town Cottonwood is lined with stunning art galleries, shops, and restaurants that feature works of local artists. The stunning Hart of AZ Gallery houses works from artists throughout the Verde Valley, featuring jewelry, pottery, glass, metal, photography, paintings, and more. Hart of AZ also offers regular artistic and holistic workshops for the community. Art Glitter, known for their unique glitter paint, not only showcases specialty paintings completed with glitter paint, but also offers weekly classes for those interested in learning how to utilize it’s brilliance.

Continue down Main Street to a cluster of working studios and galleries that welcome visitors intrigued by the artistic process. Interested in trying your hand at ceramics? Artist Zelda Zolashitz provides hour-long experiences with the pottery wheel, hand building, or her healing wheels at Studio Z. Just across the street, visitors can observe ceramic artist, Transy Lopez sculpting, building, and glazing amongst his endearing and eye-catching pieces displayed at T.L. Gallery. On a nearby corner, visitors are invited to explore ARC Contemporary Fine Art at the Manheim Gallery - designed by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. Flooded with light entering through the floor to ceiling windows in the Great Room, the ARC Contemporary Fine Art engulfs you in a world of emerging and established contemporary artists.

What better way to explore the art and culture of Old Town Cottonwood than during its Second Saturday Art Walk? The whole street comes together in a celebration of local talent with art openings, special offers, and live music up and down the street.

In celebration of Historic Route 89A, Walkin’ on Main is Cottonwood’s largest arts and crafts celebration. Local artists line the streets of Old Town to display their unique interpretations of the highway and its surrounding landscape, giving professional and student artists a unique opportunity to showcase their work. Live sidewalk chalk art turns Main Street into a living piece of creativity. The Classic Car Show, Juried Art Show, and Wine Tasting Garden (courtesy of the Verde Valley Wine Consortium) help foster a strong arts community and sense of unity for the people of Cottonwood.

Hosted by the Verde Valley Arts Council, this festival takes place over Earth Day weekend to celebrate the intersection where art meets nature. The event features fine arts, selected crafts from Arizona artists, along with live performances, wine tasting by local wineries, and farm to table demonstrations - all with a nature-driven focus. The Old Town Arts Festival is the “Verde Valley’s Premiere Arts Celebration on Earth Day.”
